Social Issues located in Sports-related YAL

For many Americans, the culture of sports is often a snapshot of the world they know to be true.  While sports are generally a wonderful opportunity for children and adults alike to find enjoyment, they can also bring to light many social issues our students in particular face on a daily basis.  The following list is my attempt to showcase some of the sports-related YA novels that focus on particular social issues that affect students and student-athletes in secondary schools.  This is in no way an all-inclusive list, so if you have suggestions for additions, please let me know.
